Home Staging: Making Your Home Sellable
You’ve listed your home and the agent wants to start showing it to prospective buyers. Here’s a few tips to help it look its best.
What Is Home Staging?
When it comes to selling your home, you want the highest price possible, right? Not only that, you probably don’t want it hanging around on the market forever. Well there’s good news. Evidence shows that homes that have been staged sell faster and for more money than un-staged homes on the same market. That’s because a staged home makes an excellent first impression, and when visiting a home once is often all a buyer has time for, that first impression is key to making a sale.
What To Do On Showing Day
The truth is, the best thing for you to do on showing day is to not be home. That’s right. Your Realtor® is the best qualified person to show your home. While you may think you know the home best, it is the Realtor®’s job to know the client best, and to know what they are looking for in a home. So on the days your home is being shown, kick back and relax at a friends, go for a drive and a shopping trip, or whatever it takes to get you out of the house.
Add Glitz to Your Holiday Staging
Staging a home for sale during the holidays has its challenges. You want to create an atmosphere that say’s "Christmas", but not to distract potential buyers from the actual house. Take a look around your home this season, have you decorated with the same garland, red bows and cute little snowmen statues that you use every year? Tradition is a wonderful practice, but maybe it’s time to shake things up a bit. The holiday is full of glitz and sparkle, and maybe it’s time to make your home stand out by adding some to your decor.
